My Tenth Blog Post

As a hopeful future band director, I don't exactly see myself doing tons of online data collection. I definitely want to get my student's opinions about certain stylistic choices of the music we do, as well as their opinions of what music we want to do in the first place, however that would usually be an in-person discussion. It's possible that I could teach other music classes that would need to involve giving out quizzes, and doing that online might be easier. I've used google forms a lot, so that's what I am most familiar with. I think one thing that I would want to do is have a running suggestions/feedback form so that my students can communicate their ideas or any concerns they have at any time, as I think it is important to be able to accept feedback from students as a teacher, so that they can advocate for their education.

I haven't been reading my classmate's blogs too much, but I did read through it a little bit while looking at their websites. I like seeing my classmates individual personality and creativity come through on their websites. I also noticed that while we all have a variety of content and grade-levels we want to teach, we have a lot of similar ideas and opinions. It is obvious that education is important to all of us. Additionally, I can see that we all have things we don't feel as confident about, and that reminds me that it's okay that I don't have everything figured out right now, and that I don't know everything that a teacher must know. But I know that I will learn it one way or another.

I think getting better at using excel for organizing plans and keeping track of data, as well as getting better at making and editing videos. Youtube would be a great resource for learning the ins and outs of these applications, as well as just using them more. Practicing making videos and trying out different apps and programs so that if I am a high school band director, I can make us cool videos and market us accordingly. Playing around on excel would help so that I can figure out the most efficient ways to plan and keep track of my students' progress, as well as finding other online tools that might work better than excel.
